What have happened in the past three weeks? A lot of things. Final week was okay. Did what I could and I'm somewhat satisfied with the results. Ended up with an A, a B+, a B, and a 3.43 GPA for the quarter, pulled my cumulative GPA down to a 3.66. Definitely not the best grades I could've gotten, but it could've been worse.
Spring break was eventful. Spent quite some time with Shawn, my big brother from the fraternity. Last Tuesday night while he was giving me a ride home, we just decided to take a "detour" and went to
Balboa Park and talked for a long time. He told me some of his very personal experience, and I really enjoyed the conversation we had that night. The highlight of the break was probably last Saturday when we (Shawn, Kiet, Dan, Anthony, May, and a couple of Robbie's friends from Sacramento, Chhaya and Cow) all went to a gay club called Extasis in Tijuana. Kiet is an awesome person, I did things I thought I would never do. It was just a very hot night. It gets better each time I go clubbing. I guess it's because I'm more comfortable with myself, and being with a bunch of friends also helps too.
It was a great and fun night until I got stucked in Mexico on our way back. Generally all you need is your driver license/I.D. card to get back to the U.S., but since I'm an international student, I needed my passport even though I had my California I.D. card. And of course I didn't have my passport with me. So Shawn and Kiet needed to drive all the way back to my apartment to get my passport and bring it back, while Dan and Anthony stayed there waiting with me. I felt so bad for causing so much trouble for everyone. Well, that guy who wouldn't let me through was an ass too. Because the second time when I was crossing, they didn't even ask any questions. People just flashed their driver license and they're through. The lady I had was asking me what was the problem earlier and how came I didn't get through. I told her the whole thing, and she was like "They didn't let you through because of that? you had your California I.D. right?" She just looked at my passport briefly and let me go. Well, at least it was an experience. I heard a lot of other people had it worse. So I should be grateful, and I definitely know who're my friends and who I can rely on.
The first week of Spring quarter was okay. I'm only taking 13 credits, 3 classes and a seminar. My classes are generally easy in my opinion and don't require too much reading. The seminar is a psychology seminar related to the understanding and analysis of homophobia in society, so it is actually really interesting and fun. Even though schoolwork isn't too crazy yet, I've been busy helping out a few friends with their slate/party. They're running in this year's
A.S. Election. I'm doing all the publicities and
their website for them. Next week is the election week, so a lot of things were really rush.
Andy hooked me up with a job and now I'm working at Cafe Ventanas, one of the cafeterias on campus. Infact, today was my first day at work. I work at the sushi station and it was a bit boring, but not a bad job at all. I'm going to be working 12 hours a week. This is going to be a busy quarter for me, and sometimes I think it is a good thing, keeping myself busy so I don't have time to think about boys.
What a busy weekend. Didn't get any schoolwork done. Friday afternoon worked at the sushi station. It wasn't a difficult job. Let's just say that this Hispanic lady I was working with just wasn't too friendly, and we'll leave it at that. Worked Saturday night in the dish room. It requires a lot more physical work and it was quite busy too since I got the dinner shift with closing. However, I enjoyed it a lot more since all the people working that shift were students, and it was just not as stressful in my opinion. Even though I've only worked 4 hours for each day, but it just took up my whole day for some reasons, like I couldn't get anything else done. Luckily it is still the first week of school. Schoolwork isn't as hectic yet, but I'm sure if I let it pile up, it will soon enough, and I'm not going to put myself into a stressful situation again this quarter.
Since I didn't get off work until 9pm on Saturday night, and we had a carwash for our fundraiser for the fraternity at 10am on Sunday morning, I stayed over at Andy and Kiet's dorm on campus Saturday night. We stayed up and made posters for the carwash and ended up not going to bed until around 3am. We were late to the carwash due to daylight saving time and we forgot to set our clock forward. Anyway, the carwash went well and we raised more than $550. However, in order to raise enough money to cover all our fees, we will still need to plan another fundraiser sometime soon. We'll see how it goes.
