+ More Worrying...
03:10 AM
So, I sent out my application for work authorization to the INS two weeks ago, on the 16th to be exact. I sent it with certified mail so I got this trackin number that supposes to tell me where the mail is, but I've been checking it on USPS and it kept returning invalid tracking number. This usually means they haven't scanned my mail yet, but the Homeland Security California Processing Center that I sent my application to is supposed to be in Laguna Niguel, CA and it's definitely NOT that far from San Diego. So I've been worrying that my application might have been lost in the mail, which has never happened to me before. Besides, I was supposed to get a receipt within two weeks with information to access the status of my application online, and it has been two weeks now and I still haven't gotten it yet. So I was really really worried. I finally checked my mail status again, and this time it said my mail was delivered at 1:23 pm on May 24, 2006 in LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA 92607. I just can't believe it took more than a week to get there... Well, at least I can stop worrying myself now. But at the rate things are going, it seems that I probably won't be able to start working until late August, especially if it really takes INS 90 days to process work authorization applications like they say on the website... I'm just crossing my fingers hoping that mine will get processed ASAP.

Glad that it arrived safely! Even here.. sometimes the mail from the States come faster than the mail from Canada.. so messed up. Take care! :)

Tracking mail sucks. Everytime they say I can track my mail, it never works. I guess the American postal service is not much better than the European ones! You wouldn't believe the time it takes for mail to get from place to place her.. Lately it seems like they've been slacking off and taken an early summer vacation or something.. baah! But I'm glad your mail finally reached it's destination, though!

+ Done with my Senior Project
10:55 AM
I've been working on my senior project last week, and I turned it in on Monday. My senior project is equivalent to the senior thesis of other liberal art majors, so it's a big deal and we had two quarters to work on it. My project was on social identities and the stereostypes associated with them. Perhaps I'll upload it to my portfolio for people to download sometime in the future. I still have one more class next Tuesday, but that class is not that hard at all, so as far as I'm concerned, I'm pretty much done with college.
However, as I was about to relax, another thing came up. It seems like I might not be working at Veoh after all. I got a call from Melissa this morning, saying that the company can only hold my offer until July, but at the rate INS is processing work authorization applications, it's highly unlikely they'll process mine by July. I guess I'll have to start looking at other companies. That sucks. I really like Veoh and the offer they gave me too. :(

+ Done with College
07:03 PM
I'm finally officially done with college. I walked in the Rainbow Graduation last Saturday, and finished my last class on Tuesday. I'm not going to my college graduation ceremony, since I don't see the point. My parents are not here, and the way UCSD setup its graduation ceremonies is by the colleges, and I really don't know many people from Sixth College, not to mention that cap and gown are expensive. Anyway, Kiet, Phil, Chris and Steven went out to dinner with me after Rainbow Graduation to celebrate. That's all there is. It felt so anti-climax: That's all? After working so hard all these years in school, this is all I get? A piece of paper? (It's not even the real one, since it'll be sent to me later in the mail.)
If you asked me if I like going to school a year ago, I would probably tell you I would love going to school for as long as I can if I could afford it. But if you ask me the same question now, my answer would've been totally different. I'm so over school, in terms of classes and studying, especially during this last quarter. It felt like I was so close to being done but not yet... I'm so ready to be done with school and move on, and be on my feet and supporting myself. Going into the real world can be scary, but it sounds so much better than going back to school to me now.

+ Ending the Silence
09:44 PM
So, I discovered Threadless last Sunday, and submitted a design out of inspiration. After four days of waiting and anticipation, my first submission has finally been approved and posted on the site. It's titled Ending the Silence, inspired by the nationwide student movement, Day of Silence. That also explains the choice of colors in this design. Please go check it out and constructive criticism, comments, and suggestions are always welcome.

Hey Clement...I have not been to your site in a long while! How are you? The design looks neat! Well anyways, take care!

+ San Francisco Pride 2006
06:31 PM
This past weekend, I went up to San Francisco for this year's SF Pride with Chris, Steven, and Adam. Chris is originally from Fremont, and his parents were out of town for summer vacation, so we stayed at his place the whole trip. We left last Thursday morning, drove all day, and didn't get to his house until really late. I drove part of the way on the way up. It was good practice for me, and I got to experience what it feels like to get tired of driving.
Friday was fun. We took the Bart to Berkeley and hung out there all day, mostly checked out the UC Berkeley campus and the downtown. That night we went to this Downelink pre-pride party. It wasn't that exciting, but it was fun to get out.
The next day we went to Castro and met up with Wilton, Dan, and some other friends from UCSD who also went up for Pride. There was this Pink Party at night there. It was basically a pre-pride block party. We first went to this house party near Castro and then went to a club before heading to the block party. The house party was fun, but the club was so crowded. The block party was amazing. There were tons of (gay) people packing several blocks of streets. It was certainly a scene.
Sunday morning was the parade and the festival. We were a bit late but caught the second half of the parade and went to the festival ground for the rest of the day. It was definitely a lot more impressive than the first San Diego Pride I went to last year.
We left around noon on Monday and got back to San Diego around 1 am in the morning.

+ Moving to Clairemont
10:25 PM
Dan and I are moving in together to Clairemont. We'll be moving in with Will to this 3 bedroom apartment. It is actually a condo, and we're leasing it from a private owner. The apartment and the rooms are really spacious. The rent is only a bit more than what I'm currently paying now, but I'll be having my own bedroom. Dan and I will be sharing a bathroom while Will has the master bedroom and his own bathroom. La Jolla is an expensive place to live in, and now that I'm graduated, there is no reason for me to stay in La Jolla. And there is definitely a reason for me to move out of this apartment. I'm just not happy here.
I've started packing up my stuff yesterday, but I didn't really get most of my stuff packed until this morning. Red has agreed to help us move most of big furnitures today with his van. The only big furnitures I have are just my bed and my desk. I'm leaving the rest of the furnitures at my current place. I mean, I don't really own them anyway; we all chipped in when we first move in here to purchase most of the stuff.
Alwyn, Josh, and Kiet helped me move too. They moved most of my boxes and I only have several boxes left. Tomorrow Dan and I will finish up moving the rest of our stuff to the new place, and I'll slowly start unpacking and all.
